How do you grow coriander successfully in summer, without it just bolting to seed?

Cultivating coriander in summer can be tricky, as the plants tend to bolt quickly. To help manage this, try these approaches:

  • Keep plants well-watered: Consistent watering helps reduce stress, which can trigger bolting. Add a layer of mulch around plants to lock in moisture.
  • Trim regularly: Cut back the plants frequently, even if you're not using the leaves for cooking.
  • Remove flower stalks: Chop off young flower stalks at the base as soon as they appear to delay seeding.
  • Succession sowing: Grow smaller amounts and sow new seeds every 3–4 weeks. Discard plants that have bolted to seed.

With these tips, you can keep your coriander productive for longer.
