Encouraging Peace Lily to Bloom

I have a lovely Peace Lily that doesn't flower very often. I have her in a semi-shade, semi-light space so the leaves don't get 'burnt' but she hasn't flower for quite some time. Any help would be gladly accepted.

This is a very common question. Peace Lilies are beautiful indoor plants but encouraging them to bloom can sometimes be a bit of a challenge!

You have done the right thing by placing your plant in a semi-shade, semi-light area to avoid leaf burn, as Peace Lilies prefer indirect light. However, if your Peace Lily isn't flowering, it could be due to several factors.

Firstly, check if the plant is getting enough light. While direct sunlight is harmful (as above), too little light can prevent flowering. Try moving your plant to a spot where it will receive bright, indirect sunlight.

Secondly, flowering takes a lot of energy from plants, so regularly feed your Peace Lily during the growing season (spring and summer). Houseplants do also benefit from an additional feed in early autumn (March). Use a specific houseplant fertiliser like our Daltons Premium Houseplant Fertiliser or try our Daltons Premium Houseplant Tabs which are super easy to use. These can provide the nutrients needed for flowering.

Also, check the plant is not root-bound; repotting into a slightly larger pot with fresh Premium Houseplant Mix can encourage blooming. You would normally do this during the growing season, but you can still get away with it in March.

Lastly, keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged, and try and maintain a high humidity level around the plant and regularly spritz the leaves with warm water.
