Homemade Fig Jam
Homemade fig jam is a great way to preserve the short and sweet fig season. This recipe is incredibly easy to make, and the result is a rich, fruity jam that enhances everything from morning toast to cheese boards and desserts.
Makes 3 x small jars
Ingredients
- 1kg ripe figs
- 1 ½ cups sugar
- ¼ cup lemon juice
- ½ cup water
- 1 tsp vanilla essence (optional)
Method
- Sterilise your jars.
- Remove stems then roughly chop figs and add to a saucepan.
- Add sugar, lemon juice and water.
- Bring to the boil and cook for 30-60 mins or until jam starts to set then remove from the heat.
- Stir in vanilla if using.
- Pour into sterilised jars and seal. Refrigerate and use within 3 months.
- Enjoy!
