The Best Time to Water Your Garden in Summer
When is the best time to water your garden in summer on hot days?
Watering early in the morning or later in the evening is the best approach through the hot months. If you can choose only one, early morning is ideal. Cooler temperatures mean very little evaporation, so plants get the full benefit of the water, and leaves dry naturally during the day, reducing the risk of fungal issues sometimes linked with evening watering.
Avoid watering in the hottest part of the day. So much moisture is lost to evaporation that plants miss out, and you end up using more water than needed.
Sticking to early morning or evening keeps plants far happier and makes every watering count.
Don't forget about mulch - Daltons Premium Mulch & Feed, when applied thickly (5-10cm), helps lock in mositure and protect soil from the harsh summer heat.
