Homemade Fig Jam

Homemade fig jam is a great way to preserve the short and sweet fig season. This recipe is incredibly easy to make, and the result is a rich, fruity jam that enhances everything from morning toast to cheese boards and desserts. 

Makes 3 x small jars 

Ingredients
  • 1kg ripe figs
  • 1 ½ cups sugar
  • ¼ cup lemon juice
  • ½ cup water
  • 1 tsp vanilla essence (optional) 
Method
  1. Sterilise your jars.
  2. Remove stems then roughly chop figs and add to a saucepan.
  3. Add sugar, lemon juice and water.
  4. Bring to the boil and cook for 30-60 mins or until jam starts to set then remove from the heat.
  5. Stir in vanilla if using.
  6. Pour into sterilised jars and seal. Refrigerate and use within 3 months.
  7. Enjoy!
