Christmas Chocolate Toffee Crunch
Sweet, salty and crunchy, Christmas Chocolate Toffee Crunch is the ultimate festive treat. Experiment with your favourite flavour combinations - try adding herbs or edible flowers from the garden for a decorative touch. Perfect for homemade gifts!
Ingredients:
- 1 packet of Salada crackers or pretzels (or half n half like we did)
- 250g butter
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 300g chocolate (milk, dark, white – or a mix)
- Toppings: pistachio, pretzels, cranberries, edible flowers, sea salt, herbs, crushed candy canes
Other flavour combinations to try:
- White chocolate, pistachio & cranberry.
- Dark chocolate & rosemary.
- Milk chocolate & crushed candy canes.
Method:
- Preheat oven to 180 degrees (160 fan) and line a baking tray with baking paper.
- Arrange crackers or pretzels in a single layer.
- In a saucepan, melt butter and sugar together. Bring to a gentle boil and boil for 3-4 minutes – stirring constantly.
- Pour hot toffee over the crackers/pretzels and spread quickly.
- Bake for 8 minutes – until bubbly.
- Remove from oven and immediately place chocolate pieces over the top. Let sit for a few minutes to melt, then spread evenly.
- Add your toppings while chocolate is still warm.
- Chill in the fridge for a couple hours until set.
- Break into pieces and store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to two weeks.
