Sunflowers in Kindergartens Final Submissions

Congratulations on reaching the end of the project!  We hope you, your children, and their whānau enjoyed the journey and picked up some great gardening know-how along the way.

  • The project officially ends at 6pm, Wednesday 10 December 2025. All submissions must be in by this time.  Winners will be announced on Friday 12 December.
  • Please submit your measurements and photos below - make sure you’ve looked over the checklist so you have everything on hand and ready to go.
  • If you don’t have any sunflowers in bloom yet, please still enter the measurement for your tallest plant. When they grow taller or flower, you’re welcome to enter our Late Bloomers Competition.

✔ Your Final Checklist

What you need for your final online submission:
  1. Your kindergarten's Tallest Sunflower measurement AND verification photos.
  2. If applicable - your kindergarten's Widest Sunflower Head measurement (if applicable) AND verification photos.
  3. If applicable - your National Homegrown Award Tallest measurement and photo (only if children grew them at home). We know parents won’t have access to the official Daltons tape, so they can use a household measuring tape - just make sure the plant is measured correctly.
  4. Your photo entries for the National Best Photo Award.
  5. Photos of children with the tallest/widest sunflowers for local media. Please put their name and age.
  6. Your Daltons Best Little Gardener photos (if you awarded a child). Please put their name and age.
