Makrut Lime Leaves Turning Yellow and Speckled
I use makrut lime leaves a lot in Thai cooking but my plant’s leaves have become quite yellow and speckly looking. How can I help it?
Yellow, speckled leaves on a makrut lime are usually a sign the plant needs feeding, especially with nitrogen, which helps support healthy green leaf growth.
Like all citrus, makrut limes are hungry plants and respond well to regular feeding through the growing season. Apply Daltons Goldcote Fruit & Citrus Fertiliser around the drip line every 4-6 weeks from early October as temperatures warm up, through until Christmas. Start again from late February to mid-April to help keep the plant in better condition and reduce the same problem next season.
It also helps to add Daltons Garden Time Compost around the base of the tree during the growing season. This improves the organic content of the soil and helps hold nutrients around the roots for longer.
