Evergreen Shrubs and Plants

I have started my garden at my first home, which was previously all grass. I have put in lots of cottage style flowers and would love ideas of what types of evergreen shrubs and plants to add to give it more depth and interest over winter.

Well done on starting your first garden! Below is a list of a number of evergreen flowering plants, including some scented varieties, that are suitable for cultivation in Dunedin. 

As this is a new garden, be sure to take some time when positioning the new plants, allowing room for future growth (check plant labels for their maximum height/width etc). Remember, new season shrubs will start arriving at Garden Centres next month providing you with the best possible selection.

Before planting out, prepare the soil well and add in plenty of Daltons Garden Time Compost.
