      Rock Community Garden Papamoa

      "To the Daltons whanau,

My deepest appreciation to Dean and his crew from Daltons who have kindly supplied product to the Rock Community Garden Papamoa (2.5 acres). This garden was built with the community in mind and supplies free fresh produce to the people who need it most, elderly, solo parents, Salvation Army and soup kitchens.

Without support from companies like you we wouldn’t be here today.

      Arohanui,
      Owen Ngaropo-Takuira."

Pukekohe Under 6 Red Rugby Team

      Kerryn Gibson (coach) says:

"These are a great bunch of kids, Mike and myself had a great time coaching them. At times it felt like we were trying to herd cats as young boys get over excited! It was a great experience of which I'm looking forward to doing it again next year.

The boys and parents were wrapped with the jackets and Daltons generous sponsorship. One of the boys would not take his off and even slept in it the first night he got it! Having one each of the same jacket with their names on them really made them bond together and I think this reflected in the seasons great results."

      H&S Landscape Design

Grant Stephens and Rebecca Hammond write:

"We would like to take this opportunity to express our thanks for your contribution to our Ellerslie International Flower Show exhibit. We could never have achieved such a great result without your support and encouragement... We were ecstatic when our exhibit received a golf award and lighting merit and blown away by the supreme award for design and judges supreme award.

Many felt that our exhibit expressed the needs of those in Christchurch and that it could inspire people to do similar things in their own gardens. We hope you take pride in the fact that you had a major role in creating a supreme award winning garden and also helped inspire, enliven and encourage people within Canterbury and New Zealand."

      Jill Nerheny writes:

"A huge thanks to Daltons for the bags of Premium Garden Mix, Vegetable Mix and Buckets, they kindly donated to our community action projects, The Veggie Bucket and Cooking from Natures Pantry. The plants are well established and as you see here were, and continue to be, tenderly cared for by our volunteer Bashi. The growing garden is now awaiting the delivery process for those in our communities who are in need of fresh vegetables alongside their food parcels, and what better way to give back to the community than through our partnership with Salvation Army Glenfield! So thank you, Daltons. Your donation not only saves us money, it adds life to our gardens which, in turn, grow great produce that can be shared with those in need. We will also engage in encouragement to set up their own gardens in the future with the assistance of our community partners."

CYC-Gardens-sml"A huge thanks to Daltons for the bags of Premium Garden Mix, Vegetable Mix and Premium Seed Mix they kindly donated to our community garden. The lettuce seedlings you see here were raised by students of Coast Alternative Education School. The gardens are maintained by volunteers, some of whom have community service hours they need to work off… what better way to give back to the community! The produce grown is distributed in food parcels through a local food bank.

So thank you, Daltons. Your donation not only saves us money, it adds life to our gardens which, in turn, grow great produce that can be shared with those in need."

      The Katherine Mansfield Garden, Wellington

      Susie Fitzgerald writes:

“The Katherine Mansfield Garden is very grateful for Daltons’ support. Thanks to Daltons’ compost and mulch the soil quality has been greatly improved and now we have much stronger plants thriving in our colorful borders. The resultant public interest has been encouraging: not only have we hosted a wedding and a book launch on the front lawn, but members of the public regularly sit and eat their lunch surrounded by old roses, wall flowers, lark spur, mignonette, violets. The garden has become a wonderful inner city refuge.

Daltons also supply the potting mix for our annual plant sale, helping to ensure that we can produce healthy large plants to tempt enthusiastic gardeners and plantspeople. Special thanks are therefore due to Daltons, great contributors to our unique period garden at the Katherine Mansfield Birthplace.”

      Scott Thiemann writes:

      “Thank you Daltons!

As resources are always stretched we wanted to let you know just how appreciated those bags of cutting mix, potting soil and seed-raising mix were. Not only did you save us money but the time spent running to the store picking it up. And a very courteous delivery man to boot!

The soil has already been used to provide a base for planting up seeds and starts for our local Royal Oak Intermediate school. And hopefully the cuttings and seeds will be ready for them all to plant at their schools after Easter!”

The beautiful garden, which features cherry blossom and magnolia, is a sacred space where patients and their families can reflect and remember. The outlook of stone paving, macrocarpa seats, ferns and woodland flowers is restful, inviting, and imbued with a sense of peace.

Learning to grow in New Zealand

classes"I want to thank you Daltons Management Team for organising such as wonderful gardening classes and event for us. Especially Xanthe and the team sacrifice their family weekend time.

I come from Malaysia where concrete or tiles is our backyard preference. When I migrate to New Zealand 5 years old ago, try planting at backyard was a failure. Then I gave up totally until one day I was googling, found Daltons Landscape supplies. Still not very sure to attend the class until last few months, I went to purchase few bags of potting mix and decided to spend 2 hours at your place.

Wow, the tips were very helpful, I try grow some garlic, lettuce and carrot in winter and its work. After the fruits class, I bought the bambina foejoa, digging at backyard again.

As English is not my first language, finding difficult to know what is the plant name. Wow, Yesterday, lucky draw won me the Kings Seeds catalogue which is very useful for me. With the seed mix and fruit trees fertilisers, you are making me working harder with my garden.

I will share the goodness with my colleagues and encourage them to attend the class too.

Look forward for future classes. Thank again :-) Kattry"

Ellerslie International Flower Show draw winner receives a prize from Daltons

One of ten Ellerslie Flower Show prize winners recently wrote to Daltons:

“Just a note to say “thank you” on behalf of my grandmother (and me!) for the most amazing prize which was delivered today. We were on the lookout for the courier expecting a small trinket in a courier bag! Not so, however. Kerryn from Daltons has turned up and unloaded not 1 but 4 huge bags of compost/soil type products and additional packets of specialised soil mixes.

Nanna is just overwhelmed, Kerryn unloaded everything right where it was most convenient for her, it is like Christmas for her. When I left Nanna was still looking at the different packets and planning what she was going to do with each. She is an avid gardener and this was clearly an ideal prize for her.

... I happened to be visiting Nanna when this prize was delivered and what was also lovely to see was the time Kerryn took to chat with Nanna about her garden and his. Nanna really appreciated this conversation.
Thank you again from both of us for this incredible prize.”
